Dogs are very smart creatures. They quickly learn our routines and respond accordingly. They are also always willing to lend a helping hand, but sometimes their help isn't quite helpful. Like this Golden Retriever for instance:
I'm not so sure grabbing the socks really counts as helping! My Nala has tried to help with socks too. Some other ways my dog "helps" around the house:
• Dish inspection: She does random spot-checks to make sure the dishes going into the dishwasher are appropriately rinsed. I'm not really sure why she needs to be nosing dishes in the dishwasher, but apparently this is an important duty.
• Floor inspection: She also inspects the kitchen floor as I cook, immediately eliminating any traces of mess as soon as she spots them. I appreciate this, unless I'm working quickly and end up tripping over a large dog. If I tell her to back up, she sits at the kitchen door and watches every move I make. I feel like a contestant on a cooking show being observed by judges for proper technique. Which I don't have.
• Security guard: The entire neighborhood is alerted when a delivery truck approaches.
I could go on, but you understand. Your dog probably "helps" in many of the same ways. Have a funny one you'd like to share? Post it on the PawPosse.com Facebook page.
