As a kid, I loved movies where animals were the stars, especially dogs. Homeward Bound - The Incredible Journey and The Adventures of Milo and Otis were played over and over during the summer, and no sick day was complete without one of them. While those are classics, Disney is busily creating new movies along those lines for kids today.
Inspired by movies like "Air Bud," Disney created a series of "Buddies" movies following the adventures of 5 Golden Retriever puppies. I saw the most recent one, “Spooky Buddies,” at BlogPaws in September and it was adorable. The director, Robert Vince, did a Q&A afterwards and you can tell two things: he loves dogs (one of the “Spooky Buddies” was his own puppy) and he really cares about making movies that appeal to kids in a positive way. “Spooky Buddies” had the perfect amount of tension to excite kids without giving them nightmares, and enough jokes to keep them giggling throughout.
The newest movie, “Treasure Buddies,” is a new adventure for the Buddies. It follows the buddies Rosebud, B-Dawg, Buddha, Mudbud, and Budderball on a search for lost treasure in Egypt. Check out the trailer:
