How To Teach A Dog To Stay

January 23rd, 2012 12:23:15 pm

Of all the commands in basic training, a reliable "stay" is one of the most important you can have in your toolbox. You can apply it when you need your dog to stay in one part of the house, when you need to keep them from running out the door, and more.

Disney uses high-quality dog trainers to train puppies for their "Buddies" series of movies featuring 5 Golden Retriever puppies. Here is a video from April Mackin, one of Disney's on-set trainers, with her tips on how to teach a dog to stay.

Sounds simple, doesn't it? If it works on an excited puppy on the set of a big movie, it will work on your dog at home. With a little practice and patience, your dog will soon have a reliable "stay" for you to use when necessary.
