 We talk a lot here about how to keep your big dog safe while you travel. That’s about to pay off: AAA is running a dog photo contest where they want to see photos of your big dog traveling safely.
In May, AAA will be releasing a book called Traveling with Your Pet: The AAA PetBook and is looking for photos to include in the book. That’s right: winners of the contest will have their dog’s picture published. In addition, winners will get prize money of $300, dog treats, 5 copies of the book and a gift card to Best Western worth $150.
Interested in entering? Go to AAA.com/PetBook and click on Photo Contest. It will give you the official rules and entry form. They are looking for artistic photos (preferably candid, not posed) that show how much fun it is to travel safely with your big dog. The deadline is November 30th. They’ll select 2 photos for the book spine and back cover, plus 40 more that will be featured inside the book and on the AAA PetBook site.
Not sure what photos to share? Here are some ideas I’ve come up with:
• Big dog safely buckled in a dog car harness
• Wearing a dog backpack with first aid kit
• Sitting calmly beside a restaurant table
• On a boat with a dog life preserver (bonus points if the dog is playing with kids who are also wearing life preservers)
• On a camping or hiking trip
• On vacation with another species - cat, horse, rabbit?
You can get other ideas by checking out the PetBook site and seeing last year's winners. (Yes, one of the photos was of a rabbit. I didn't just make that up.)
